Demystifying the importance of rubber fender vulcanization pressure

The vulcanization pressure refers to the amount of pressure on the unit area of the rubber fender during vulcanization. In addition to thin-walled products such as tape, other rubber fenders require a certain amount of pressure during vulcanization.

The pressure effect of vulcanization mainly has the following points:

1. Prevent the rubber fender from generating bubbles during the vulcanization process and improve the compactness of the rubber compound.

During vulcanization, the rubber contains moisture and other volatile substances, and hydrogen sulfide gas which may be formed in the vulcanization reaction, and the volatilization occurs at a high temperature to cause bubbles of the rubber. If a vulcanization pressure greater than the size at which the rubber may escape is generated during vulcanization, the generation of bubbles can be prevented and the compactness of the compound can be improved.

2. Make the rubber fender compound easy to flow and fill the cavity

In order to produce a clear and full rubber product, the rubber must be able to flow and fill the cavity. In particular, the vulcanization pressure is more pronounced during the vulcanization induction period in which the rubber is in an uncrosslinked state. Experiments have shown that for molded rubber fenders , if the vulcanization temperature is 100-140 ° C, the vulcanization pressure should be in the range of 2-4.9 MPA.

3, improve the adhesion of rubber fender rubber and cloth layer

During vulcanization, as the vulcanization pressure increases, the depth of penetration of the rubber into the fabric increases, thereby increasing the adhesion of the rubber to the fabric and the flexural resistance of the rubber fender.

4, contribute to the improvement of physical and mechanical properties of vulcanizate

Experiments have shown that with 5MPA pressure vulcanization, the wear resistance is 10%-20% higher than that of the conventional 2MPA vulcanized rubber fender. This is because increasing the vulcanization pressure can increase the compactness of the vulcanizate. However, too high a vulcanization pressure is detrimental to the performance of the rubber fender rubber because the high pressure, like high temperature, accelerates the pyrolysis of the rubber molecules. In addition, the structure of the textile material under high pressure is also destroyed, resulting in a decrease in flex resistance.
